World Water Day

Water.
I have babbled about it before (forgive the pun). I will again.

If you read my blog, you know I like to stand on my soap box from time to time.

Recently, the blog world led me to some like-minded women. They decided that rather then just talk from their soap boxes, they wanted to act. To change the world. They created a non-profit organization called The Adventure Project. It was established to increase investments in positive social enterprises around the world. They believe we can end extreme poverty in our lifetime by reinventing how we give. Ways that spur economic opportunity, promote dignity, and save lives.

One of the reasons that I think this non-profit is so cool is that they are looking for new projects to invest in each quarter. That means, four times each year they help roll out a new life-changing plan in a different corner of the world. So far, they sold coal at Christmas and now they want to "Keep it Clean" by selling soap. Not only are they sending funds, but they are trying to make a lasting impact. Training workers. Creating Jobs.

Their current focus is on training well mechanics in India. Why?

Because, 1/3 of all drinking water wells built in the last 20 years are broken.

Over 4,000 children die every day from lack of clean drinking water.

Instead of drilling more wells, they are using their charitable gifts to train and employ hand pump mechanics. The mechanics earn an income, bringing themselves out of poverty and they save lives - turning water back on for thousands of people each year.

Today, they have a plan. A goal. A proposal. Raise $10,000 USD in one day. Today.
If we raise $10,000, we will help mechanics fix hundreds of wells for years to come, turning water back on for 300 people each month.

I am not looking for $10,000. Or $1,000. Or $100. Just $10. That's it. $10.

Just got word that there is a matching opportunity, so $10,000 can become $20,000.

Ballet - Oh Goodness

G had her final day of her ballet class today, so parents got to come in and observe.

Since her favorite part is running, I think her ballet career will be short lived, it is still pretty fun to watch. The class is for 3-6 year olds, so there is quite a range in skill and size.

Where have we been?

I haven't been feeling creative this past month, so I apologize for the lack of posts.

Much of what would be blogging time has been spent supervising B's work on his science project. It isn't a complicated project, however, when you type one letter at a time, getting all of the information ready to print on a display board can be a bit time consuming. Even though I tried to keep his input time to about 20 minutes every few days, it did take a bit of teeth pulling to get him to finish it. Thankfully, it is done.

Here's a photo that sums up G in a nutshell - 3 going on 25!

It wouldn't be a typical day if she hasn't:
1. Thrown herself on the floor for a good old fashioned tantrum
2. Answered a question with an exaggerated, "Yehhhhh - esssss"
3. Told me how much she is mad at me or is unhappy in general
4. Picked a fight with her brother
5. Given me (and her brother and Daddy) several unsolicited "I love you!"s

Such is the world of the bi-polar toddler.
